Air quality readings in the general area of the anhydrous ammonia release in Burt County are continuing to improve. As a result, the Decatur Fire Department and Magellan representatives are removing the evacuation requirements for all residents except those within one-mile of the release site, effective immediately. As residents return to their homes, Magellan will coordinate re-entry with local officials, and will conduct additional air quality testing at each residence to ensure safe air quality. Magellan will continue to cover the expenses of the residents who were evacuated from their homes..

There are four homes within one mile of the release site which will not be cleared for re-entry at this time. Hwy 75 has reopened but County Road P will remain closed near the release site.

The men and women at Magellan continue to grieve with the Hennig family.

We apologize to those residents who have been evacuated from their homes and to the other individuals who have been impacted by this weeks’ tragic event. Media Advisory, Update 2

October 19, 2016. 10:30 A.M.

Magellan will host a meeting at 2PM this afternoon at City Hall, 913 S Broadway, Decatur, NE with local residents who were evacuated from their homes earlier this week. The meeting is open to the media.

At this time more than 50 Magellan and pipeline contract representatives, federal regulators and state and local emergency responders are on site. Progress is being made on repairs at the release site and air quality readings continue to improve. It is our goal to completely isolate the failed portion of the pipeline today, which will allow the reopening of local roadways. A decision to allow local residents to return to their homes will be made later today.

Our next media advisory will be late this afternoon.

Media Advisory, Update 1

October 18, 2016. 4:20 P.M.

Magellan, in cooperation with local emergency response personnel and state and federal regulatory agencies, is continuing to isolate and secure the 8” pipeline involved in last night’s ammonia release, with safety being of the utmost importance. Air quality monitoring at the release site and the surrounding area remains underway. While air quality is improving, current readings will not allow local residents to return home just yet.

Our immediate focus is to eliminate ammonia emissions, safely secure the site and reopen the local roads. Operations of our ammonia pipeline will remain suspended until all repairs can be safely made. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

23 homes were evacuated last night which included approximately 40 local residents. Magellan representatives are currently working with affected residents to cover all relevant expenses associated with the evacuation with the intent of returning our neighbors safely to their homes as soon as possible.

“We express our deepest sympathies over the tragic death of the local resident last night,” said Mike Mears, Magellan’s chief executive officer.

Late last evening, Magellan experienced an anhydrous ammonia release on our 8" pipeline system near Tekamah, NE. We are sad to report that a local resident has passed away after exposure to anhydrous ammonia vapors.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Local authorities have evacuated several residents in close proximity to the release site and a local County road has been temporarily closed.

Magellan representatives, local emergency responders and environmental crews are currently on site. All appropriate federal and state agencies have been notified.

We are unsure of the cause of the incident at this time and will issue an update later this morning.
